About this blog:
In a past issue of Press Pass we had a feature on magazines that will take your article and pay well. In each upcoming issue, we will continue to provide, as we always have, new possibilities for your stories. For this BLOG, we would like to focus on tips or difficulties you have with placing your material. We hope other members, including associates will reply to your comments.

Our goal is to open communication so we can all spend more time traveling, eating, enjoying wine, writing to tell the story, and getting paid. Your comments are encouraged.

IFWTWA Blog Tips and Difficulties of Placing Articles

2010 World Equestrian Games - Lexington , Kentucky
I am an IFWTWA member based in the Lexington , KY area . In 2010 we will host the World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park . This is a world class event that will bring approximately 500,000 visitors to the event in a 10 day period . IT IS THE FIRST TIME THIS EVENT HAS BEEN HELD IN THE UNITED STATES . Most of the visitors will be very affluent international equestrian professionals and enthusiasts .

The website for this event is http://www.feigames2010.org/ .

This is an incredible event on its own and is also a wonderful opportunity to showcase various food, wine, bourbon ( of course ) and travel opportunities in the Kentucky and southern region .

I have an interest in writing about various aspects for this and would like advice from members on how to capitalize on this opportunity . This is the " Olympics for the equine world" and would and may never be held in the U.S. for decades .

  1. I would start with airline inflight magazines that serve Louisville and Lexington, then national upscale lifestyle publications - we've listed many in Press Pass and you can check the archive if you don't have the issues handy. I'd also look at UK travel magazines for an article combining the equestrian hook and Kentucky lifestyle - we've listed some of those in Press pass, too, and they pay in pounds.

    Good luck!

  3. I wholeheartly agree with Marilyn. I'd also "google" equestrian magazines to see if their are some you could approach.

Have some good clips ready to go with your query.

    Best,
