Michael has been writing about food, wine and travel for over a decade. He is the author of the Moon travel guides, Santa Barbara & The Central Coast and California Wine Country as well as a book of poetry, Generous Fiction. Slated for 2011 is a short story collection, Blunted By Lunacy. As former actor, he appeared on 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Young and the Restless, Grace Under Fire, and other TV shows. Currently he is the restaurant critic and travel writer for the Santa Barbara News-Press and he writes several wine columns. Notable magazines include Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, Skywest, Wine & Spirits, Westways, Fido Friendly, Santa Barbara Magazine, Juxtapoz as well as over 60 others. Along the way he has interviewed Jonathan Winters, Dan Aykroyd, Mario Andretti, Gina Gallo, Peter Mondavi, musicians Mick Fleetwood and Dave Koz, and others. Michael appears regularly as a guest on the award-winning Around The World Radio show, detailing his travels, and he guest-hosts Table Talk, a food radio show broadcasting from Santa Barbara where he lives. As a food and wine judge he has been invited to the Best of Vinho Verde Awards in Portugal, the Taste of Rum Festival in Puerto Rico, the Monterey Wine Competition, the California Central Coast Wine Challenge, the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting, the Paso Robles Winemaker’s Cook-Off, and many other wine and food competitions. www.MichaelCervin.com, www.CervinItStraight.com
