8:00 am Vans will pick up guests and luggage from their lodging and transport to custom Jet Boat Tour up the Rogue River. (Luggage will stay on the vans.) Gold Beach is synonymous with jet boats and is the gateway to the wild and scenic portion of the Rogue River. Departing from Gold Beach is the only way to get jet boat access to this pristine "Wild Section." The trips are considered a must-do during any Gold Beach visit — at least in the months between May and October. Two outfits run the boats up the Wild and Scenic Rogue River on trips of 64, 80 and 104 round-trip miles, the longer, the wilder — in terms of whitewater and scenery. Jet boats are designed specifically for safely navigating strong currents and shallow riffles, so you can relax as trained pilots treat you to tall tales and river lore, incredible scenery and sightings of black bear, river otters, eagles and the rare mountain lion. Mail Boat Hydro-Jets is a descendant of the original mail boats that have carried news and parcels from the outside world to settlers upriver since 1895. They run trips in open vessels and in the Rogue Queen, a glass-enclosed excursion boat that's ideal for rainy days and perfect for tour groups and champagne cruises. An adventure with Jerry's Rogue Jets begins in their museum, where just about anything you need to know about the area's colorful history is on display in photos, artifacts and dioramas. Then get on board to learn the true meaning of "wild and scenic" from folks who've run these trips since 1958.

9:00am Custom Rogue River Jet Boat tour begins, complete with brunch provided by Rollin ‘n Dough Bistro Bakery & Delicatessen, fashioning delicate breads, pastry, and cheesecakes for the sophisticate palate (also purveys imported ethnic meats, cheeses, and gourmet food products). Their bistro features table service for soups, salads, pasta, specialty sandwiches, and desserts. We'll take a break at TuTu'Tun Lodge, nestled on the banks of the Rogue River, a four star lodge which combines the comfort of a first class resort with the congeniality of a small hideaway. Our next stop is Bandon for lunch at Lord Bennett's and then time to site see and shop. While traveling to Coos Bay, we'll leave the vans and board a boat in Charleston with Betty Kay Charters (a tip to the deckhand would be appreciated). All luggage is to be left in vans. The tour host will bring your luggage to Mill Casino Hotel. The boat tour is approximately 2 hours and will dock directly at the Mill Casino Hotel. Your luggage will be in your rooms. If anyone is not comfortable on a boat, or weather is a factor, a hiking tour of the South Slough Estuary in Charleston will be available. This was the first estuarine reserve in the nation. 4,700 acres of fresh water streams, upland forest, salt marches, mudflats, open water channel, nature trails, boardwalk and tide flats. Many educational presentations, book-store, restrooms, phone, wheelchair access are available. If you take this tour we will arrive at Mill Casino Hotel by 4:45 pm.
