Allen is a freelance travel & lifestyle writer, Editor of Northwest Travel Magazine, Contributing Editor of HARBORS magazine, and a commercial copywriter. Magazine outlets include AAA Journey, Northwest Travel, Oregon Coast, Native Peoples, South Sound, 425 magazine, Coast Explorer and others. Allen has authored Best Easy Day Hikes-Seattle and Best Easy Day Hikes-Tacoma for Falcon Guides/GPP. He is also a commercial copywriter/editor with a portfolio that spans several industries. Allen does speaking engagements and panel discussions and develops and leads workshops for media conferences. He serves on the Board of Directors for IFWTWA and chairs the organization's Excellence & Scholarship Awards Committee.
