The IFWTWA Excellence in Journalism Award is a prestigious annual award given to a member who demonstrates, as the title implies, excellence in food, wine or travel writing.
Our 2015 Excellence in Journalism Award goes to IFWTWA member Terri Peterson Smith for her article, “The Wild Still Calls,” published in Live Happy Magazine. Her compelling story is about how a group of 400 dedicated volunteers saved author Jack London’s estate from closing due to lack of state funding. The story depicts the power of grassroots passion for an important legacy, for nature and for keeping an important literary tourism destination open for thousands of visitors. See California’s Jack London’s State Historic Park.
It is fine work like Terri’s “The Wild Still Calls“ that helps continuously grow IFWTWA’s reputation as an organization that’s home to many talented, professional and productive members. Terri will receive an award certificate, public announcements of her award and a cash prize from IFWTWA.
The IFWTWA Awards Committee evaluated dozens of submitted entries for the 2015 Excellence in Journalism Award. The caliber and diversity of writing from IFWTWA member entries were extremely impressive. Each entry was scored in four categories: mechanics, structure, tone, and style.
Thanks to all IFWTWA members who submitted entries for the 2015 IFWTWA Excellence in Journalism Award. Picking a winner among so many excellent entries is always a tough choice.
