Orcas Island, Washington - USA Media Trip

May 2018

2018 Post-Conference Media Trip

Our IFWTWA members were treated to a three-day, two-night press trip to Orcas Island. Beautiful Orcas Island, located in the San Juan Islands of Washington State, is a popular destination for tourists and retirees. The natural isolation provided by Puget Sound gives Orcas Island a sense of peace and relaxation accompanied by the San Juan Islands’ already pristine natural beauty. Villages and hamlets like Orcas Village, West Sound, Deer Harbor, Eastsound, Olga and Doe Bay make Orcas Island a paradise not to be missed. Participants sampled the imaginative creations of Orcas Island’s award-winning chefs. They took an Island Hoppin’ brewery tour and sampled tide-to-table oysters at Buck Bay Shellfish Farm, chased with prize-winning organic white wines from Lopez Vineyards. In the quaint village of Eastsound, they sampled heritage preserves at Girl Meets Dirt and artisan chocolates infused with local flavors at Kathryn Taylor Chocolates. The spectacular view from Mount Constitution in Moran State Park, and the visit to historic Moran Mansion at Rosario Resort & Spa were all part of this memorable press trip.

IFWTWA thanks our members’ hosts and local tourism for coordinating their stay. All opinions expressed are the individual writer’s and not those of or influenced by IFWTWA.
