IFWTWA Media Trip

Natchitoches

October 10-12, 2025

Founded in 1714, Natchitoches (Nak-a-tish) is Louisiana’s Oldest City and oldest settlement of the Louisiana Purchase Territory. Located in northwestern Louisiana along the Cane River Lake, Natchitoches is known for its rich French and Creole heritage, and it’s famous Front Street and charming National Historic Landmark District, filled with shops, restaurants, and bed-and-breakfasts. Visits can immerse themselves in early Louisiana culture at the Cane River Creole National Park, ride the Cane River Queen riverboat, take a downtown carriage ride, and savor some of the best food in Louisiana. Natchitoches is also home to Northwestern State University, and it’s park-like campus is worth the visit.

Natchitoches is also home to one of the longest-running Christmas celebrations in the world. Celebrating the 99th Year of the Natchitoches Festival of Lights, this six-week festival offers lights, fireworks, holiday displays, family events, a parade and lots of shopping.
